Purpose of Role:
To deliver effective nursing care to service users in accordance with:-
· Prevailing Nursing and Midwifery Council (“NMC”) guidelines.
· Prevailing NMC code of conduct.
· European Care (“EC”) policies and procedures.
· Contractual requirements

Principal accountabilities:

· To deliver person centred care in accordance with best practice and available reasearch.
· To promote the health and well-being of service-users.
· To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and review person centred care for each service user that meets their needs and demonstrates outcomes within the expected time-scales.
· To promote and maintain service user confidentiality.
· To establish and maintain good relationships with service users, relatives and staff.
· To ensure that service users are treated with privacy, dignity and respect at all times.
· To ensure that service users are safe-guarded in accordance with “No Secrets” legislation, EC policy and local safeguarding policy.
· To undertake medication administration in accordance with best practice and prevailing NMC guidance and EC policies and procedures.
· To promote and maintain good working relationships with all external bodies and commissioners.
· To maintain a sound knowledge of Care Quality Commission (or equivalent) and all other regulatory standards.
· To report any incident, accident or significant event to the Home Manager in accordance with EC policy and procedure.
· To ensure a regular programme of activities is implemented and documented in individual service user plans.
· To continuously monitor the quality of care and take remedial action where appropriate.
· To liaise with specialist Nurse(s) as necessary.
· To liaise with central offices departments as necessary.
· To undertake and document regular supervisions of care and ancillary staff.
· To promote diversity and equality in the workplace in accordance with relevant Company policies.
· To ensure service users receive a nutritious balanced diet and adequate hydration in accordance with the service user’s plan of care.
· To maintain current professional registration, current clinical knowledge and mandatory training competence.
· To provide coaching, training and support to junior staff when applicable.
· To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard for the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, service users and visitors and report accidents as necessary.
· To ensure that all care related documentation is completed concisely and in a timely manner.
· To ensure safe staffing for the following shift and that “hand-overs” are clear, concise and factual.
· To maintain a current PIN registration at all times.
· To participate in audit and research.
· To participate in staff meetings as required.
· To carry out other duties as directed.
