 Each Health Care Assistant applicant is allocated a Key Worker who will be with you from the beginning to guide you through the recruitment process and answer any questions you may have along the way.

 The Role

Health Care Assistants work within a hospital, or the community, under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. As a Healthcare Assistant on a hospital ward/unit your role is to support the qualified nurses in providing care and support to patients.  This may include:

  • Personal care (toileting , washing , dressing),
  • Assistance at meal times (uncovering food, feeding & monitoring that patients are eating)  
  • Bed making
  • Communicating with patients, ward staff and families
  • Observations (which may include taking blood pressure / temperature)
  • Completing relevant charts and paperwork
  • One to one work with individuals on a mental health ward/ unit
Required Skills
  • To apply for our Healthcare Assistant roles you will need to have at least six months experience in the last three years in hospital environment or residential home.
  • You will be required to provide evidence of immunisation history including Hep B, MMR, Varicella and TB scar.
  • A caring and compassionate attitude and an understanding of the role are essential. 
  • You will need excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to maintain accurate patient and actively and effectively communicate with all colleagues, patients, relatives, carers and visitors in a professional manner at all times.
  • Due to the nature of the role you will need to self-motivated and work well under pressure.
