Apex Health + Social Care join Lounge 10 at Crewe Health + Wellbeing Fair

Yesterday Apex Health + Social Care attended Crewe Health + Wellbeing fair

As part of Apex HSC’s commitment to raising the profile of health and wellbeing issues in the North West and targetting healthcare recruitment in the Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire area, the organisation joined other like-minded businesses and groups at the Victoria Centre, Crewe yesterday for Crewe Health + Wellbeing Fair.

Joining the fair was Lounge 10′s outside catering company to provide food for the event as part of their ongoing commitment to support their local community.

The fair was organised to help local people and health and social care professionals understand what support and advice is out there in the local area for those who need it. Apex Health + Social Care spoke to many people who were unsure how temporary care solutions could be used to support a loved one, or which packages could benefit them the most.

What is important is that people realise what help and support is out there and that it is readily available at affordable costs. Carers, whether professionally employed or working at home for a loved one should all be made aware of the facilities and support available to them which is why fairs like this are so important to local communities.

They are also important because they inform attendees and visitors about the potential that could be unlocked in a care career. With courses that include training and ongoing courses, Apex HSC’s carers are the most informed and dedicated in the area, many training to become professional carers after caring for somebody at home.

We would like to thank the organisers of Crewe Health + Wellbeing Fair for inviting us to attend and would also like to thank Lounge 10 for joining us and creating some delicious healthy food for everyone who came.

Coronation Street’s Steven Arnold meets Apex HSC Client Andy Walker

Andy Walker and Steven Arnold met at an Apex HSC care awareness event.

Steven Arnold might be known throughout the nation as Ashley Peacock, but to Apex Health + Social Care he’s a valuable member of the team.

Taking time out yesterday to meet Apex Health + Social Care client Andy Walker, Steven heard how he had suffered a C4/C5 spinal cord injury following a diving accident in Goa six years ago and was left paraylsed from Neck down.

The pair had something in common too – Andy once was a cast member of Emmerdale, playing Steve Kelly, introduced to the role by the Back-Up Trust. Andy doesn’t let his disability control him, and like his character on ‘the other soap’ he has not let this deter him from continuing to live a full and adrenaline filled life.

Steven made the visit as part of a series of events he has helped organise with Apex HSC over the summer to raise awareness of care and support in the community.

He said of the meeting:

“It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to meet with such an inspirational man as Andy Walker.

“We can all learn a lot from his determination to lead a full and rewarding life, having faced the massive task of adapting to a new situation and overcoming new challenges.”

Steven Arnold’s support for Apex Health + Social Care this summer will see him meeting a range of clients in receipt of care and support in the community as well as attending a number of events to raise awareness of these services and give people the chance to meet and chat with a real household name.
