In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Apex Health + Social Care are hosting a number of pink-themed events to help raise money and get people talking and thinking about breast cancer.
Breast cancer is one of the top 3 cancer killers in the UK, with a diagnosis being made every 11 minutes. Earlier detection of the disease means a better chance of survival, however despite the advances in clinical care and awareness, breast cancer still kills around 12,000 women every single year.
With 20 types of breast cancer to decipher and understand, the work that Breakthrough Breast Cancer do is vital to the continuation of finding a cure. The research they do isn’t only to find a miracle cure though – by researching treatments, diagnoses and self-diagnoses, important work is being done in finding medications with fewer side effects, faster and more substantial diagnoses and enabling the public to better equip themselves with knowledge about the disease.
On Monday the 29th October 2012, Apex HSC staff will be paying £1 to dress in pink for the day. Our in-house recruitment, sales and bookings staff can’t wait to see what everyone looks like in their rose-tinted clothes!
On Wednesday 31st October 2012, two of our very own bakery fanatics will be bringing in some delicious cakes and bakes to sell, to help raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Mmm!
Our final day of fundraising will be on Friday 2nd November when the whole Haydock office will be having an own-clothes day with donations in order to help raise a bit more cash.
Breakthrough Cancer Care is a very important charity, not least for the work they do but also because breast cancer has unfortunately touched the majority of people’s lives at one point or another. Supporting them is a step towards finding better treatments and ultimately, a cure, and Apex Health + Social Care are proud to be doing their bit.
